Another interesting feature at the Colombo Zoo is the feeding of Pelicans. The pelicans that spend their time in lakes and canals etc., in and the outskirts of Colombo visit the Zoo by 1200 hrs. for their mid day meal daily. Their places of interest in the Zoo are the reservoir and tall tree canopies near  the reservoir ,which inhabits by other aquatic birds too. The Pelicans come up the flight of steps made for them and parade anxiously to eat the fish that they receive from the visiting public.
